With a little bit more than a month left in 2010 Kanye West manages to sneak in and drop the best hip hop record of the year. It is clear from the opening track (Dark Fantasy) that West hasn't lost his sense of sonic exploration that made his The College Dropout so refreshing. Part treatise in human arrogance and part 808 & Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy manages to be bigger, more ambitious, and at the same time more human than any other record from his hip hop contemporaries.
